Office 2010 Application Template

We are using FP 7.0.2 and experienced a problem with Outlook 2010 profiles.
Some users have 2 emailprofiles. When they start Outlook on their desktop they will be asked which email profile to use. When they start Outlook via Citrix it just start Outlook without asking which profile to use.
I've checked the flexprofiles.reg in the Office 2010 setting file and both of the profiles are included. But the HKCU\Software\Mirosoft\Exchange\Client\Options\PicklogonProfile options is not included by the Application template for Office 2010.
It might be a idea to include it into the Application Tempolate for Outlook 2010 (with Profiles).

Profile Cleanup removes files after wrting them

Henno,
You can indeed only use folder tokens, so you would have to specify a token-based path corresponding to the value of %TEMP%.
On Windows XP, that would be something like <UserProfile>\Local Settings\Temp, and on Windows 7 <LocalAppData>\Temp, for example. You could use different cleanup Flex Config files for each OS and use Process Criteria to apply the correct one, or maybe a single Flex Config file with multiple paths would work?

Hi Arnout,
This worked nicely, thanks!
Another question, if I may,,,: I want the profile cleanup to clean out the %temp% folder, I looked and found no token for this directory, what would be the best approach? Does [DeleteFilesRecursively] %temp%\*.*
work?

Henno,
That's exactly how Profile Cleanup is meant to work: it is intended to be used for removing settings from local and roaming profiles once you've started managing them with Flex Profiles.
To remove those *.RPL files altogether, you can exclude them from your profile archives by adding something like the following:
[ExcludeFiles] *.RPL

We found out that the Profiel Cleanup feature removes files from the Winows profile after it has written the same files to the zip files. Which means that one gets the removed files back after the next logon... This can't be the way things are working ... What am I missing here? We have the following in Profile Cleanup: [DeleteFilesRecursively] <UserProfile>\*.RPL

dear all
firstly i do not profess to know anything about flex profiles but i have an urgent request somewhere in the flex profile is a setting which is being stored that determines which exchange server the user gets when they login
we are moving to exch 2010 and i would like to point them to the new env but the only way i have been able to do this is overwriteprofile=yes
now this works but obviously settings are not maintained if i specify append or no then they hit the old env how do i get users over to the new env whilst maintaining their outlook settings, i.e. outlook address book
are there extra reg keys on the citrix server that i need to be aware of, i.e. this first run key?
help very much appreciated!
regards
phil

Save Systemroot files Add / Edit Folder Token list
Arnout Grootveld — Immidio Posts 247

Thomas,
Flex Profiles can indeed only manage files and folders that reside in the user profile folders, but maybe you can create a workaround for this non-standard application by creating a junction using mklink.exe.
If you create a junction like <LocalAppData>\LegacyApp\Configuration that points to the actual folder in the system root, you can then refer to that path in your Flex Config file.
NOTES • You will probably need to (re)create the junction every time the user logs on (depending on the profile type) • This is not really a supported solution — still, it might be worth a try.

Save Systemroot files Add / Edit Folder Token list

Hi all,
we are having an (legacy) application that stores the User-Workspace in a folder directly in the Systemroot. We would therefore need to save the User Data with Flex Profiles from this location, unfortunateley it seems not to be possible as there is no FolderToken for the Systemroot (C:\). Is there a way to include those files into Flex Profiles ???
Thanks in advance. Thomas

Admin Guide for FlexProfile 7.5
Arnout Grootveld — Immidio Posts 247

Phil,
The Administrator's Guide is included in the download package of Flex Profiles (the Immidio Flex Profiles 7.5 - Admin Guide.pdf file in the Documentation folder, to be precise). We'd be happy to send you the Admin Guide by email, of course, but it's probably a good idea to download Flex Profiles again, just to make sure that you also have the other files that are included (administrative templates and example Flex Config files).

I recently downloaded an eval copy of FlexProfile 7.5. Can someone post a link to an admin guide or similar documentation? I did not receive any docs in the eval download. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks, Phil

Vmware View 5
Rodney Medina — Immidio Posts 14

Hi Marc,
Without diving into many technical details, there are some high-level differences when comparing Immidio Flex Profiles 7.5 with VMware View 5 Persona Management.
VMware Persona Management is mostly focused on improving performance issues which customers might encounter in VDI environments. Immidio Flex Profiles can definitely also address those performance issues, by using DirectFlex functionality to load application settings when an application is launched, instead of when a user logs on. But Immidio Flex Profiles goes beyond improving performance issues, providing many more user environment management capabilities. Depending on your requirements you could even use VMware Persona Management in conjunction with Immidio Flex Profiles.
In both cases Immidio Flex Profiles 7.5 provides the following user environment management capabilities:
- Manage a user’s settings in a segmented manner, instead of one big container. - Provide support per application/setting (restore from backup or reset to defaults). - Allow users to support their own user settings using the Flex Profiles Self-Support tool. - Roam user settings across different operating systems (not limited to VDI environments). For example: roam between physical and virtual machines, or roam between virtual machines and Terminal Services. - Migrate user settings (if desired only specific applications/settings) from physical Windows XP to Windows 7 running in a VDI environment. - Manage user settings on any Windows operating system. - Pre-configure application settings using the “Predefined Settings” feature, initial and/or mandatory. - Cleanup certain profile data using the “Profile Cleanup” feature, shrinking existing roaming and local profiles. - Provide administrators with detailed granular control using the Advanced Process Criteria.
We hope this clarifies things.

Andrey,
As indicated when you download Flex Profiles, you will receive your license key "[...] within two working days."
Typically it's a lot faster, but given that you only downloaded the trial half an hour ago, please be patient :-)

I have a license for v7 of FlexProfiles and require a 64bit installer. I am using v7.0.1 but can only seem to download the latest version (v7.5.2) from the website (for which my license is not valid).
please can you advise how I can download the previous versions?

Ok, thanks. Just download it. Some time ago I did the same thing but a sales representative called me why I requested a trial since I have a full license.
