Hi Arnout,

I have incorporated the verbose logging and tested it with SCCM and a normal unattend installation, using the same command:
msiexec.exe /i "\\server\app$\FlexProfile\Immidio Flex Profiles.msi" /qn INSTALLDIR="C:\Program Files\Immidio Flex Profiles" ADDLOCAL="FlexService" LICENSEFILE=”\\server\app$\FlexProfile\FlexProfiles.lic” /l*vx C:\Install\InstallFlex.log

Seems like I have an issue with the downloaded msi, because both methods seem to produce the same error.

Both logfiles are mailed to support.

Could you please try installing again, but with verbose logging (by specifying /l*vx), and then mailing the resulting log file to support AT our-domain-name.com? I'd like to take a look at what may be causing the 1603 error.

Hi Arnout,

Thanks for the reply. Yes I made a typo in the commandline regarding the msi name. But I rectified that and I end up with an exit error 1603.
Changed the license file from to the just arrived FlexProfile 7.0 license file. Updated the deployment package and re-run the advertisement.

This time the install log is created and filled with the following data (Property(S): ErrorDialog = ErrorDlg

The software seems to install half, it is visible in add and remove programs, but the service is not created.

Bas,

I'm not familiar with SCCM, but let's see if we can tackle this.

The error code in "A failure exit code of 1619 was returned." looks like an MSI error to me — it's documented as "This installation package could not be opened. Verify that the package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer package."

Could it be that SCCM somehow can't access the MSI? Is there any information in the MSI log file (C:\Install\InstallFlex.log)?

Hi,

I am trying to use Immidio Flex Profiles7.msi to be deployed to Windows XP Professional PC's in an Active Directory with SCCM 2007 R2.

When installing the assigned package on the XP workstations the Advertisement endes with warning event id 10046:
Warning Event ID 10046:

Windows Installer per-user elevation of this program ("RTD0000C" - "Flex Profile Engine") failed for advertisement "RTD20001".This program was started. Please check the status of this program to determine whether or not it was completed sucessfully
Possible causes: The version of Windows Installer on the computer is less than version 2.0, or the setup program does not support Windows Installer per-user elevated rights installations.
Possible solutions: Update the version of Windows Installer on the computer to version 2.0 or later, or contact the software vendor that supplied the install program to determine if a version of setup that supports per-user elevated rights is available.

and exits with error:

Error Event ID 10006:

The program for advertisement "RTD20001" failed ("RTD0000C" - "Flex Profile Engine"). A failure exit code of 1619 was returned.
User context: NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM

Possible cause: Systems Management Server (SMS) determines status for each program it executes. If SMS cannot find or correlate any installation status Management Information Format (MIF) files for the program, it uses the program's exit code to determine status. An exit code of 1619 is considered a failure.
Solution: For more information on the exit code, refer to the documentation for the program you are distributing.

I have set to run the deployment with administrative rights but it still fails.
I have checked Windows installer version on the workstation which is version 3.
Running the commandline as administrator manually from the workstation installs the software correctly.

Any suggestions for deploying the Flex Profiles Engine to workstations?

I experience problems using flexprofiles and windows xp themes. If I select theme windows classic, flex save settings, log back on, the theme is set on the selection field but is NOT displayed. Instead the Windows XP theme is.
- Windows XP SP3
- Version of flex profile is not relevant (all versions do not work)
- explorer.exe starts after logon (synchronous logon script processing is enabled.

Is it possible to select and activate a theme by scripting ? Wichout displaying the theme dialog and do a sendto(ENTER). Also there are solutions wich require and old version of themeui.dll (windowsxp sp1 version) but I dont want that..

Thanks. We still have an open case with citrix, but it looks to be default behavior.
When a user logs off and the desktop group is configured to 'reboot when user logs off' the reboot is being sent to the VM infrastructure, which simply does a reboot by 'pushing the power button'. Any logoff script still running is killed.
We found a workaround by configuring the desktop group to do nothing, and instead put the reboot command in our logoff script.

Well.....
I disabled the GPO pointing to the mandatory profile and used the local machine profile instead. So it's not really resolved. I orignally assumed it was a timing issue of my GPOs. But Raymond (from immidio) indicated that someone mentioned they had the same issue and when they disabled "reboot when user logs off" feature in XenDesktop the problem stopped. I don't know much more than that right now. Maybe he will update this post when the cause can be definatly identified.

Hello Arnout,

when logging the first time, Windows pops up some configuration Windows in the upper right. This is e.g. "Themes Setup, "Micorosoft Windows Media Player", "Microsoft Windows", "Browser Customization", "Windows Desktop Update" and the "Web Platform Customization".
All the registry keys from the first few I configured in .ini files. But for the "Web Platform Customization" there seems to be none.

Hello all,

I'm trying to set up a Flex Profiles scenario in a Windows 2008 R2 Remote Desktop Environment. I created a clean mandatory profile and referenced to it and provided some basic ini files.
When a user logs on with Flex configured, the Microsoft dialogue "Web platform customization" always appears when logging on. Where in the registry do I configure that?

These are both good questions. We are currently in the development phase of the next version of Immidio AppScriber, which will be available Q4 2010.

Since multiple customers will likely have benefit of these kind of features I will discuss these internally and see if we can get these on the roadmap.

I am currently testing AppScriber for my company, and I came across 2 things we would like to see. First off, we came up with the idea of having a button or something similar that would link users to a software acquisition form if a particular piece of software is not on appscriber. Secondly, we have the need to send a customized notification email to users whenever they sign up for a general application. From what I've seen this is only possible through managed applications right now. If you could let me know if these features would be likely to get added, please let me know. Thank you.

I think I figured it out - because streamed application runs in virtual environment, Process Monitor is unable to capture it.
I guess only way is to install the application normally and then create INI file for Flex Profiles for use with streamed version of the application.

Hi!
I am trying to create application INI file using Flex Profiles Assistant + Process Monitor method.
The application I am trying to monitor is streamed to Windows Server 2008 R2 x64 (Remote Desktop) using App-V 4.6.
Problem is when I import resulting .FLEX file into Flex Profiles Management Console the INI file is empty.
Is it possible to create INI files for App-V streamed applications and how?

I am using latest Flex Profiles 6.1 x64.

Hello together,

at the moment I am trying to implement the FlexProfiles with the Admin Guide in our environment.

I am having trouble with the user logoff. I added the logoff script (CSCRIPT /NOLOGO ... LOGOFF...) via GPOs.
It is not possible to logoff with users. The screen "hangs" and user logs not off. I added the user to the local admins with the same result, so I assume, that this is not a problem with permissions.

Any ideas about this?
