L.s.

Every time I log-on as a user (from a TS server) and try to activate a program I receive an error:

Validation of viewstate MAC failed. If this application is hosted by a Web Farm or cluster, ensure that <machineKey> configuration specifies the same validationKey and validation algorithm. AutoGenerate cannot be used in a cluster.

I'don't receive this error logging on at the website as an user directly on the Appscriber IIS server itself (even though using the same URL http://%ipaddess%/appscriber)

I already restarted IIS and IE many times. Any good ideas?

Regards,

Misja

Misja,

Apart from the scenario mentioned in the error message itself (i.e. running AppScriber on a web farm or cluster without syncing the validation key), this error can also occur if a button is clicked while the page is still being loaded.

Could that be the case in your scenario? To test this, log on to your terminal server, start IE, clear the cache (just in case), go to AppScriber, wait for the page to load, wait a bit longer (just in case :-), and then try activating an application.

Some other questions:
- Which versions of IE are you using on the terminal server and on the IIS server?
- Which version & service pack of the .NET Framework is installed on the IIS server?
- Is there a proxy server between the TS box and the IIS box?

Hi Arnout:

in answer to your questions:

- Which versions of IE are you using on the terminal server and on the IIS server? - Both are IE8
- Which version & service pack of the .NET Framework is installed on the IIS server? .Net Framework 3.5 SP1
- Is there a proxy server between the TS box and the IIS box? No proxy present

I did some additional research and I found out that I can use the Appscriber site on each and every PC and web browser. Even in a TS server session... as long as I am administrator. As soon as I log on as a user in a TS session I receive the error. I tried to debug with Procmon but I couldn't find any errors or access denied's.

Strange. Perhaps you have an explanation for it.

Thx
